Privacy Policy

Trails is built to be private by design. The routes you record are yours: they live on your iPhone and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud. We do not run servers that receive your data, we do not use analytics or advertising, and we never sell or share your information. This policy explains exactly what Trails accesses, why, and how it is handled.
Who we are
Trails (“the app”) is developed by Mantiqo (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at privacy@mantiqo.com.
Information Trails uses
Location. With your permission, Trails reads your device location, including in the background, to detect when you are moving and to record the routes you walk, run, ride and drive. Your location history is stored on your device and is used only to draw and measure your trips.
Motion & fitness.Trails uses Apple’s Core Motion activity data to classify whether a trip is a walk, run, ride or drive.
Health data (HealthKit). If you enable it, Trails can save your walks, runs and rides to Apple Health as workouts, and read your workouts to enrich your trips and avoid duplicates. This is optional and requires your explicit permission in the Health app.
Where your data is stored
Trip data is stored locally on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, your trips are stored in your personal, private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). That data is protected by your Apple Account and is not accessible to us. We cannot read, retrieve, or analyse it.
What we do not do
Trails has no user accounts and no login. It contains no analytics, advertising, trackers, or third-party SDKs that collect your data. We do not transmit your location, health, or trip data to ourselves or anyone else, and we never sell or share it.
HealthKit data
Information that Trails reads from or writes to HealthKit is never used for advertising or other data-mining purposes, and is never shared with or sold to third parties. HealthKit data stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
Privacy zones
You can define privacy zones, for example around your home or work, where Trails will never record. Anything inside a privacy zone is simply not logged.
Exporting your data
You can export any trip, or your entire library, as GPX or JSON at any time. Exports are generated on your device and shared only where you choose to send them.
Your choices and control
You are always in control. You can delete individual trips inside the app, revoke Location, Motion or Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings, and remove all local data by deleting the app. Trips stored in your iCloud can be managed or removed through your Apple Account.
Children’s privacy
Trails is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version on this page.
